Triumphant Thursday - Empire GC

As a warm up to Saturday's game, Hj Shahbudin Hj Manan Hj Zairin and myself headed to the magnificent Empire Golf & Country Club. I personally did not have high hopes for this game - looking at it more of trying to fine tune in the lead up to Saturday and sharpening my short game.

In the end, it was more than that.. a Gross score of 80 DESPITE a dreadful start of double par (8) on the first hole dashed the hopes of my playing partners from getting duit raya from me today... Suffice to say.. It was a clean sweep.. 12 pars in all with a 41 out and 39 in score..

Well done also to Hj Zairin for boucing back on the back nine.. Ada orang happy, ada orang nda happy..

Magic Monday - RBA Golf Club

Arr ahem... news headline
1. Normal service resumes
2. Getting ready for Saturday
3. Hj Dua in trouble
4. Hj Manan plays lefty
5. Quote of the week

1. Hj Zairin, Hj Manan, Hj Dua, Affandy and myself ventured to the RBA GC after a month long break during Ramadhan. Initially, there was a lukewarm response to play today as most BMMJ players were still celebrating Hari Raya. However, these five players needed an extra warm-up to prepare for the weekend game. Things couldnt have gone to a worse start as there was five of us. Jadi nya timpang.. All this.. the guilty party being Orang pencen.. kan main nada membagitau.. tau-tau ada di RBA.. because of that we had to split 3/2 with Hj Zairin and Affandy making one flight and the rest of us playing the front nine. Not only that, I was late.. Hari raya hang over.. I was so tired and my initial thought was "Kana sambaleh ni" Feng shui wise.. most of the time you dont play well if you wake up late for a game.. Just ask Jim Furyk.. Anyway, beat orang pencen nett 3 strokes.. while Hj Manan and Hj Zairin had a day to forget.. While Affandy played solid but wasnt enough to beat orang pencen.. All in all, happy to get duit raya today.. Was pleased with my game even more so teeing off from the back tees... Abis bisia...

2. This Saturday's friendly Hari Raya Special game will be held under a team format.. After attending Khun Pg Ali's Hari Raya Open house I think a Ryder Cup style game would be quite interesting with BSP Vs. BLNG.. Team winner will be decided by taking the top four scores of each team..

3. My good friend had an up and down game.. perhaps due to the long break.. Just watch the clip and decide.. hehe

4. With Orang Aaarrbb nada ONN today, he experimented a few times and was trying to be clever by playing Mickelson.. didnt turn out as expected... But bunyinya kan belatih di Empire dalam dua tiga hari ani.. So guys beware of him come Saturday.. You have been warned!

5. Orang pencen was struggling a few times today and especially lost a few balls in the lake for no apparent reason.. duff.. masuk corner.. short... Lay up hole 6 pun dapat double bogey... heheh Ada orang happy... So in that sense.. Orang Pencen's only saviour was his putting.. He got a bird on #2 which silence the critics and his putting was what we say in Malay "Beracun" prompting Orang Aaarrbb to say "Putting ganya tinggal" on the basis of his drive, iron and approach game was not what it use to be 10 years ago.. "Kalau Dulu"

World's most expensive phone

Its not the new IPhone 4.. not any diamond encrusted VERTU.. or GPS with SAT NAV or things that can locate a shoal of fish...uh uh.. It has to be Jim Furyk's phone that made him miss the Pro-Am of the Barclays tournament - the first stop of the FEDEX play offs.. Ouch.. he was late by 15 mins for his scheduled shot gun tee time.. By missing the pro am he automatically DQ himself from the tournament proper...

But as this goes to press: The rule has been relaxed till the end of the season
PGA TOUR commissioner Tim Finchem Tuesday announced the suspension of the regulation that resulted in Jim Furyk's disqualification last week from The Barclays for being late to his pro-am starting time. This part of the regulation will be suspended for the duration of the 2010 season.

Below is the statement from the Tour:

"Hereafter, should a player be late for his pro-am starting time, the situation will be handled as a matter of unbecoming conduct. Such player will be required to participate in the remainder of the pro-am round and may be required to perform additional sponsor activity. A player who misses his pro-am obligation in its entirety will still be ruled ineligible for the tournament unless he has been excused in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.

The commissioner has asked the Player Advisory Council and Player Directors to evaluate the current pro-am regulations to determine whether alternative measures can effectively ensure that players honor their pro-am obligations without placing them at risk of disqualification. The matter will be discussed at the Policy Board meeting in November."

Apparently the battery went flat thus rendering any alarm service void..
It wasnt too bad.. he dropped from 3rd to 8th in the standings.. Its a US$10m question... What if Furyk had won? Or finish in the top 5..

But you might argue this year's FEDEX is probably the most exciting with its unpredictability on who is favourite to win.
Woods - Showing signs of old form but not quite there yet
Mickelson - Missed cut at the Barclays and will need to bounce back quickly
D. Johnson - Does he have the mettle to win the big ones?
Stricker - The dark horse, need to convert top 5 into wins
Els - Poor showing at the Barclays, also need to convert his earlier season form during the playoffs

Which then leaves current leader Matt Kuchar with a commanding position on top of the standings. Cant say I have noticed him last few years but he is hitting form at precisely the right time. A few more top 3 finishes and it will be difficult to catch him.
