BMMJ golfers like a good challenge.. You have seen recently trouble with Mr. pensioner, now you can also learn from GY how to escape from DEEP trouble.. Must have been harnessing the skill cutting the lawn during his younger days..

A new golf superstar is born

Rory McIlroy displayed the maturity, determination and patience of a player well beyond his tender age to win the U.S Open by a massive eight strokes over second placed Jason Day at Congressional country club. His total score of 16 under par broke at least a dozen scoring records both at the US open and major championships.

If there were any doubters about his ability, then this would definitely cast that aside forever. So take out those history books, hold the front page and crash those websites.. because there is more to come from the boy from Hollywood, Ireland.

US open

This year's second major looks very difficult to predict who will win. In previous years, it would be just Tiger and three or four other players that had the potential to win. With Tiger out injured this year, i believe there are at least ten players who have a good chance at Congressional.

Will the bridesmaid finally become the bride? Will it be finally Mickelson's time to win?

Will new world #1 Luke Donald silence his critics and finally land one? Which the same can be said for Europeans Lee Westwood, Paul Casey, Rory McIlroy and Ian Poulter.

So what about the Americans and the rest? David Toms looks solid as do Steve Stricker. Has Dustin Johnson learn anything from last year?

Some say the South Africans will finish strong with recent good form for Ernie and Retief.

So, it gonna be difficult to decide but i have a sneaky feeling an outsider will lift the trophy this year.

Singapore course ranking by Golf Digest (Singapore)

Took this from the online edition and makes interesting reading. Ive been privileged to play both TMCC courses and the Garden course deserves to be number one. Course is in top condition and the layout is pretty testing.

On the other hand, im a bit baffled as to the lower ranking of Laguna and high ranking of SICC Bukit course. Believe Laguna course should be higher mainly for its stern but fair test on players and pretty much water everywhere.

Own goal by KGT ( & OneAsia Tour?)

Not sure if you are following the rivalry between the well established Asian Tour and the upstart OneAsia tour over the last few years. With the latter being formed by the Australian, New Zealand, China, Korea (KGT) and Japan Tour associations.

OneAsia's objective is to be the leading tour in Australia and Asia competing on the same turf of the Asian Tour. Some Asian Tour members were fined and suspended for playing in an OneAsia tournament two yrs ago one of them is the former Brunei Open Winner - Terry Pilkadaris.

Anyway, the point is last weekend there was a golf tournament by KGT at the same time OneAsia also had a tournament in China (the Nanshan Masters) which offered more money (US$1m) than the KGT tournament (US$0.5m)

So they fined Kim B.O and Kim Dae Yun for playing the OneAsia tournament instead of their domestic tournament. Just to rub salt in the wounds, Kim BO won the Nanshan Masters in a play off over Michael Long.
