Sultan Mizan - Best golfer among country leaders?

We all know President Obama is a keen golfer but not as GOOD as former President Clinton who famously played RBGCC close to midnight when he was here during the APEC meeting back in 2000. G. W Bush was also known to be a decent player but refused to play again after 9/11 out of respect to those who lost their lives.

Obama is about a 15 hcap whereas Clinton was probably seven or eight.

But I reckon that current Malaysia Agung Sultan Mizan is probably the best golfer among Heads of State or Government. I believe his current handicap is about five or six and at one time he use to be scratch.

Here is the updated BMMJ OOM for July.. It is unlikely that we will have another game before Ramadhan.. so Jang Samuil will remain leader until at least the first week of Hari Raya..

"DC" performs superbly to win the Open

A true gentlemen of the game who greatly deserves to win this major tournament.

I knew that he was a decent player but it wasn't until 1996 when DC first caught my attention when he competed in the Ryder cup just weeks after the death of his wife Heather. He played in three matches and won them all.. The stuff of legend..

To go from there to winning the open 5 years later take great courage, commitment and belief.

Played week with Yusof Johan on weekend of 3rd July
Score wise, played well but not well enough.. had an 82 with no birdies
Yunos and G2 played in the afternoon. Think Yunos had a 78 though not sure what G2 had.

Meanwhile, Hj Zairin played in the same flight on weekend of 10 July with Mohamad, Hj Kamaludin and Hj Rahim. Apparently birthday boy played 90 and mamam all..

Wednesday golfing: Lightning saves the day

Saved by the Siren & the thunder.

10 BMMJ players played social golf on Wednesday afternoon 29.06.2011 playing at RBA golf Club. Weather was good during the start though with a little bit of drizzle. Anyway, Pak President was on fire - displaying his very fine performance. Front 9 he scoring 38 Gross, bagging one birdie on Hole 3.

Back 9 after holes 16 just playing 6 over par. He could easily Win It All if not because of the heavy thunder, lightning and the rains when we were at hole 17. Siren activated and game was subsequently abandoned. it was the right decision under the circumstances. When we stood on hole 14 – I was hoping the game is abandoned after scoring 11 on Hole 13 – ha.... ha... request fulfilled.

Elsewhere, I noticed that it was the same reaction & response from other BMMJ players at the club house – most were very grateful - I guess they are not playing well too except for Pak President, no damages incurred.

Replay is already being planned – watch out for the date – Hj Dua, Hj Shahbudin, Yusof Johan the pool master and AIS.
