Rehab - Week one

For the first week, Ive decided to concentrate on working on weights. Not really my strong point but i guess you have to start somewhere... lifting 5kg dumbells ain't easy... after about 20 mins i can feel my arms getting a bit sore so i switched to pull ups

push ups, pull ups... sakit nyawa... cant remember the last time i did this... em.. i think it was the police ASP trials.. back then it was cakoi...20 push up tuan? kacang tu... i could have been one.. But..

after about 15 times.. i realise the hard work that lies ahead... if i want to hit 250yds consistently... not easy brader.. i need to get myself fit and tone... no shortcuts.. i then went for a bit of jog.. well actually over to OGDC in Seria to jog.. nice view as you can imagine...

Jog or no jog.. next battle is on Saturday 30th May at RBGCC.. DRM golf monthly medal.. details in the next post.. will be joined by Sam "The Man", Shahbudin and Hj Zairin "Mr cool"

Oak Hills (Narita, Tokyo) 81 gross... Airbus 380 & Conrad Tokyo (Nice view)

After a bad week during the Baiduri tournament, I was looking for some respite albeit away from Brunei.. Touching down at Narita airport Tokyo last Wednesday from an overnight flight originating in Singapore is hardly the ideal preparation... But as i arrived at Oak Hills and walked out into the practice green I sensed this could be the day i bounced back after the disappointment at RBA.

Was using a rental set (Macgregor with a very light weighing putter)what was most interesting was the remote control cart.. quite a novel idea.. the cart is electronically controlled via a small remote held by the caddie.. so no threat of any incidents unless the remote goes amok...

back to golf, a dream 39 on the front nine banished the RBA episode.. could have been lower but for the ineffective putter - telampau ringan so didnt have any feel for the putter.. a 42 on the back nine including a 250yds drive and i was happy as a boy on first day raya...

p.s Happy Birthday's go out to the cook... and Khun Ali

RBGCC ...16th May 100++ big scoring day

Guest Editor: Bapak Hj Samuil (Mantan Presiden)

It was a walk in the park for me to take the overall winner despite a so so score ...with Gbudin 106, Gzahrin 111 & Ahmad Zak 100 and me 94. All started strong and in contention on the front nine, back nine is another story......Gzahrin unable to clear no 10 bunker, and after several failed attempt forced to hit backwards and end up with a score of 9 ( ada orang happy ! ). Gbudin also recorded a score of 9 on the same hole, kepunan inda makan nasi lemak kali.

After hole #10 ......their scoring did not improve somehow, is it mentally affected, trauma 9, only they know the reasons..... even the famous long drive disappeared.

I must say, Gbudin has strong fighting spirit, trailing by one stroke to Gzahrin after 17 holes.....fought back to win the game, well done jang. Ada orang happy.. ada orang nda happy...

Baiduri Masters Pt. 2

Trauma on 17th... Baiduri Masters Charity golf

All good things must come to an end i guess.. Cant remember the last time I was Paymaster.. The law of averages strikes again... MANY THANKS FOR THE PHOTOS TO OFFICIAL BMMJ HEAD OF MEDIA RELATIONS HJ MOHD ZAIRIN...

Scene: RBA Golf Club
Tournament: Baiduri Masters Charity golf (BMW car for hole in one)
Starring: YT, Hj Shahbudin, Hj Samuil, Hj Yusof Taufik, Hj Md Zairin, Mohamad and honourary BMMJ member Hj Amran Said.
Background: After the disaster at Panaga, wanted to get back to normal service...in operation codename "Sweep".. Jang Budin looking for revenge...

Front Nine (# 11 start)
Jang Budin had an excellent start with a birdie on the opening hole, G sam had par while i had a bogey and Mohamad posted a double... Was using the new Mizuno clubs with normal flex.. Struggled a bit on opening few holes but nothing major.. then came #16 par 3.. the car on offer was the BMW X3 2.0D i think.. ball was heading to the whole but went slightly left.. ended up pin high but about 10ft left...(bila tah kah HIO ani after almost 20 yrs playing??!!) birdie putt was disappointing and settled for a par.. then came #17...

Mental game started well before game began.. normally, #17 are trauma hole for Budin, Manan, Sam and Mohamad. For me its either a par or bogey.. 1st shot went wee bit left and into water.. ok regroup and focus.. 2nd shot also went into hazard but ploughed.. another penalty.. sugar... 6th shot pun mandi kolam... in the end i was 8 on.. 2 putts for a 10.. i havent had a ten for like.. 4 yrs? Jang Sam ambil ikut simpati.. and also had a ten... heheh...

After that, my mind just went blank...it was not becos the tee shots were poor but the shots didnt turn fade as I would expect.. law of averages.. I cudnt recover after that either mentally or game wise.. finished strongly with a few pars and bogey.. but damage was done on #17 and #1 where again due to trying to familiarise with new club.. hit it fat and was short.. must have lost about 4 balls that day..

Maximum respect to Jang Budin (hapy for u) he played 85 gros i think.. pool winner as well..

I also wish to take this opportunity to inform all readers that I will go back to school.. no no.. not another masters degree or PHD.. kan rebuild my swing... having seen how Budin outdrove me at panaga by at least 40yds.. that was too much to swallow and something that im not goin to take lightly.. so I will go back to the range and get myself sorted out.. Rehab clinic for the beaten golfer..

Anyway, enjoy the pictures... My new name is POKT Bahreen DH... POKT gelaran baru ohh.. Pehin Orang Kaya Terkubi... Pengusaha Ubi kayu, manis etc(purple variety) laila bijaya lagi bijaksana.. indera kenchana seri buwana.. macam2 ada...

BSP Corp Golf: 2nd May 2009 - The Future is RED

Course: Al Panaga GC
Setting: BSP Annual Corp Golf
Setting: Viewed as warm up game for Baiduri Masters.

Zairin: Corporate, Samuil: HP, Shahbudin: Finance and Yours truly: BLNG turun padang keluar belang kan belawan di padang....

Im not a big fan of Panaga despite the very good efforts done by the club to improve the course.. elevated greens, fairways, more water hazard... just not my cup of tea..

Four of us represented our Assets for this annual get together to earn bragging rights for the year. BLNG team was decimated by late withdrawals and resignations. This made defending the crown a bit more diffcult.

Despite the problems, had to carry the flag... We started on #9 and had a good start with Par.. after that our F9 (Back Nine) was a bit frustrating with my irons stuck in gear and short game not as sharp as the week before. Cant remember much but my score was 89, Sam 85 (Still no collapse on B9) Budin 103 and Zairin 104

In the end BLNG came 5th, HP 2nd, FD 6th and CORP was 9th
Individual: Pool Sam, Win against Budin and Zairin and lost to Sam.

Eastwood 25 April 2009

Soory... been a while since updated the BLOG... banyak kerja oh...
Anyway, organise a "farewell" for a friend who is leaving the company for greener pastures.. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances... nda jadi main... jara jua mun cemani everytime... more of that later..

Mr. Sam, Mr. Budin and myself was all that is left to fight out the day's game.. banyak runding stroke on 1st tee before we managed to tee off... On the front nine i recorded a scintillating 40... Sam 46 and Budin 48... abis... with Jang Budin still with putting problems... highlight was four pars in a row from # 6 to 9...ktani bah tu..

On the back nine, was OK for the first few holes but too many bogeys/double from #14 to 17 and a resurgent Sam i wasnt able to hold him off... a 43 for me and Sam and Budin 47. Summary: Myself 83, Sam: 89 and Budin 95...

Looks like Jang Sam has banished his reputation as "calamity Sam" on the back nine. Respect lah...

Sam: Win F, Lose B & O
Budin: Win F, Draw B & Win O
Pool: of course....
janji nett is positive....
