The sixth edition of the Royal Trophy to be held from
December 14 to 16 at The Empire Hotel & Country Club in Jerudong
promises to attract record galleries for Asian golf, deliver team golf
of the highest quality and produce an electrifying sporting atmosphere
as the two great continents strive for stewardship of the Royal Trophy.
Admission tickets for the Royal Trophy have been launched and are now available via www. TheRoyalTrophy.com and at The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
The tickets are priced at B$30 for Brunei residents, B$15 for students and US$80 for non-Brunei residents, respectively. Special privileges and discounts are available for early bookings and children aged 10 or younger may attend the Royal Trophy free of charge when accompanied by an adult ticket holder.
"The Royal Trophy offers a tremendous opportunity for the spectators to witness golf history being made, watch the leading professional golfers produce fantastic team match-play golf, enjoy the most competitive and passionate sporting atmosphere and support their Asian and European Teams respectively," stated Lincoln Venancio, Managing Director of the Royal Trophy.
"I would like to highlight that the opportunity for the youth is exceptional. The youngsters will enjoy the outdoor environment, be able to participate in a great variety of games, they will see these great sporting superstars from close range and will receive a powerful dosage of sporting inspiration," Venancio added.
"We encourage all parents to bring their children to the event and give them this gift of a truly unforgettable and very wholesome experience.
"The atmosphere will be very festive and the Royal Trophy will provide three days of great fun and enjoyment for all of the spectators attending. The event Entertainment Village located in very close proximity to the golf course will be full of excitement and activity, will feature a large screen broadcasting the matches and will be a magnificent setting to relax, spend time with friends and enjoy a great day out. It is an opportunity not to be missed," the managing director concluded.
The inaugural five editions of the Royal Trophy delivered highly competitive contests with Europe, led by the late legendary five-time Major winner Ballesteros, prevailing in the first two encounters; Asia securing a historic victory in the third match under the captaincy of Naomichi 'Joe' Ozaki, and Colin Montgomerie leading the Europeans to the narrowest victories in the fourth and fifth tournaments.
The Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources has pledged their full support for the momentous hosting of the Royal Trophy in the Sultanate as the international event promises to bring immense benefits for the nation in terms of tourism and business promotion.
The Empire Hotel & Country Club is the championship's host venue and is currently undertaking all necessary preparations for the showcasing of Brunei to over 260 countries and territories where the Royal Trophy will be broadcast; including all of Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
"We feel extremely honoured and excited to have been selected to be the host venue for the sixth edition of the Royal Trophy, it is indeed a dream come true for Brunei, for Brunei golf and for The Empire Hotel & Country Club, its owners and its staff," said Desmond Acheson, General Manager of The Empire Hotel & Country Club.
The European Team will be led by two-time Masters Champion Jose Maria Olazabal while the Asians will be captained by the 35-time tournament title winner and Japanese golf legend Naomichi 'Joe' Ozaki.
Early nominations for the Asian Team include Japanese superstar Ryo Ishikawa - the youngest player in history to win a major Tour title, Asia's match-play maestro and former Asian Games double gold medallist KT Kim of Korea and Japan Golf Tour Championship winner Yoshinori Fujimoto. Captain Olazabal has already nominated two of Europe's greatest golfers - Colin Montgomerie OBE, an eight-time European Tour Order of Merit winner, and former Major Championship winner Paul Lawrie as his early appointments for the European Team.
