Go John Daly!

My all time golf idol John Daly shot an opening round 66 or 6 under par in the first round of the open at St. Andrews.. and from what i saw on TV yesterday he could have easily made a 63 similar to Rory but his putt lipped out three times...

Good luck John!

BMMJ Open - Mohamad cruises to win

News headline

1. Mohamad wins the open
2. Ada orang minta hujan
3. Quote of the week
4. Case of "cari nasib" awal claim "Saudara"
5. Day of upsets
6. Full results

1. Mohamad Damit out of nowhere claim the third major of the year - The BMMJ Open at the Empire hotel and country club. Mohamad recorded a 89 gross and 71 nett to win by two shots over Yusof Johan who finish on 73. With this win Mohamad has his handicap reduced by two strokes and his new handicap will now be 16.

2. According to reports around the course, some of the players were wishing rain at the turn after storm clouds gathered around the course and threaten to pour down cats and dogs. Luckily, rain stayed away and proved profitable for some but not others. Tau ku tu..

3. "Unsangkarable, Unbelievable and Unbearable" were the words uttered by fellow flight mates Hj Amir, Hj Yusof and Hj Rahim to yours truly after I played even par for the first seven holes during our round. It included a birdie, a bogey and five pars after which Hj Rahim offered to hand over the dosh after nine holes. "You are different league lah jang" Hj Rahim then continued... While Hj Amir and Hj Yusof said "Ada tu karang"..

4. Over lunch Hj Samuil was telling us his bad day on the course and thought he would be ATM after recording a 97. He also thought that Hj Zairin would easily beat him and when Hj Zairin offered "Saudara" clause in the locker room - Hj Samuil happily accept only to find out that Hj Zairin's score was worst and that he actually won... Susah cari makan ani jang..

5. Disappointing performance by myself as well as "man in form" Anak Inchan Senior Hj Zairin. Although I can understand Hj Zairin's lacklustre performance due to his daughter's recent wedding, I have no defence to offer accept I did not "Stay in the moment".. more of this later

6. Top 5
Winner: Mohamad Damit
Runner-up: Yusof Hj Johan
3rd: Hj Shahbudin Musa
4th: Mohamad Bahreen
5th: Hj Yusof HM Taufik

Invited Guests
Winner: Hj Salam Musa
Runner-up: Yuichiro Saito

Novelty
NTP #4: Hj Yusof Taufik
NTP #14: No winner

Others (gross)
Hj Samuil - 97
Hj Dua - 96
Hj Zairin - 107
Hj Amir - 97
Hj Rahim - 108
Abd. Walid - 116

Personal take: With four holes to play I was only 5 over at which I should have breezed through this tournament. I am not too sure whether its a blessing (kalau inda chop two strokes which could have made me drop to 6 h'cap) or playing a bit more conservative and protect my score by "staying in the moment" rather than getting carried away with the thought of scoring a 76. Need to dwell on that for a while.. On the positive side the PING ANSER irons continue to impress and so far I have not recorded a gross score of more than 86 whether in Brunei or abroad.. steady eh?

Inda lagi lama balik model if this continues until December...

Saturday game - Anak Inchan (Senior) strikes again

Venue: RBA GC
Time: 1.00pm
Who played: Hj Zairin (Anak Inchan Senior) Orang Pencen, Yusof Johan, Affandy Ahmad, Hj Shahbudin, Mohd Yunos (Anak Inchan Junior) Bahreen

News Headline
1. Anak Inchan (Senior) manang lagi
2. Orang Pencen takut, nda mau 'throw ball' when deciding pairing
3. Orang Pencen jadi ATM
4. Quote of the day

1. Hj Zairin could hardly put a foot wrong as he romped his way to winning the Saturday game by a massive three strokes from Yours Truly after carding a 71 nett at the sunny.. then rain.. then a bit more rain.. then sunny RBA golf club at Berakas. His short game was on fire as he chipped it close to gimme distance several times whilst sinking his putts left, right and everywhere! Tried to pyscho him on the par 3 16th by pretending to take out my tee to tee off dulu.. "Eh.. Excuse me.. aku jua honour" Said Hj Zairin.. seem to work as he had an 8 on the 17th and 7 on the 18th but still Hj Zairin was champion...

2. Strange... orang pencen decided to fix his pairing without the customary throw ball. Perhaps a sign of things to come takut kalah?

3. True enough a score of 99 gross made orang pencen Chief Financial Officer for the weekend.. awal lagi mulih tu... balum bayar ohh.. ketahuan kau jang...

4. "Kitani ada ONN kah?" was the magic words that Anak Inchan Senior said to Anak Inchan Junior upon leaving the 10th green.. Background to this was Hj Zairin was playing well and thought ia ada onn with Yunos. Apparently Not! as Yunos burst out laughing... cari kesempatan tu Yoi.. kan cari silap which is a contrast to what happen at Eastwood...

Jakarta Open - Correction

Hj Shahbudin won on second day at Bogor Raya.
Initial mistake was due to miscommunication on handicap being used.
Anyway, winning two out of three games is a handsome return for the new clubs.
