Travel: Hanoi, Vietnam

"Tak akan hilang Melayu di dunia" - Hang Tuah

Have to say that its quite true.. I had the privilege to meet Mr. Ben Taat Haji Alias while visiting the city recently. A man of many facets originally from Johor, he now runs the only malay restaurant in Hanoi.. Restaurant Nisa..

A keen sportsman and golfer, "Pak Ben" as I like to call him.. no longer plays actively but maintains his interest in the game as i sipped a teh tarik at his restaurant.. He is not short of a story or two as he readily shares his wisdom with me..

He use to work in Brunei as the Takraw coach in the late 80s to early 90s... and has lived in seven different countries over the last 20 years.. So if your in town, why not drop by..

Travel/Food: Bangkok

Bangkok offers a wide variety of halal food.. its incredible.. I suppose they cater to mostly tourists but good thing is most places charge decent prices.. except probably one or two restaurants on Sukhumvit..

My most recent visit to the city, a few of us went to Pratunam to check out An-Nur Restaurant which belongs to a close friend.. Trademark for this place is its huge plastic mugs... food is typically Thai with good variety.. location is bang smack in the middle of the night market..

We had the Tom Yam Kung, fish mango, beef curry... as most of us were hungry.. the table fell silent as we tucked in.. No complaints na kap..

Travel: Tam Dao Golf Course - Hanoi Vietnam

Only in Asia you can find this.. I thought it was kinda cool plucking longan fruit from its tree while playing at Gassan Khuntan GC in Chiang Mai some four years ago.. But this is something else.. Tibadak around the course? On a few holes.. they were ripe mangoes that was just lying around... kalau di Brunei abis tu..

Actually, the location and views around the course is quite stunning.. Its built inside a valley surrounded by mountains.. Like Dalit Bay but more beautiful.. think you need to go yourself to really appreciate..

Maybe not Hanoi as you need to change flights either in Bangkok, KL or Singapore.. but I suggest you all go and travel to Ho Chi Minh and play golf there while RBA still has a direct flight.. maybe you will find a durian tree on the golf course!
